The good news is, most of them don't last a year and you can usually buy their equipment cheap when they "Bail out" of the trucking business.

Fuel and Oil filters cost MORE for my 2006 6.0 Ford than my 2000 3406E CAT.

Your not buying your sick-o stuff in the right place. It's actually a good engine as designed by Binder. It does very well in the commercial group like ice cream trucks and small dump trucks but that version won't fit in a Ford....... so the idiots redesigned it...AKA the sick-0 diesel!

If you have problems contact me, I probably have the solution....not the money but the solution.

I was in the Hot Shot business for two years with an 05 3500 Chevy Duara Max & a 40 ft gooseneck. Personally, I couldnt make any money. I was running off the load boards & had some brokers I used. I would get about 12 - 14 MPG with just the truck & about 12 or so with an empty trailer. As long as the cargo I was pulling wasnt catching any wind, I could get 9 - 10 MP event if I was at max. Like pulling 12,000 lb of pipe for example. But the worst I ever got was pulling a couple of those PODS containers, I got 5 MPG.

I enjoyed running Hot Shot. I wish I could make money with it. I would love to run one all the time.

Usually the reason you see all these guys running new trucks is, most people run out, buy a new truck & dont make it. Thats why you see all new trucks & not trucks over a couple of years old.

The only advise I could give someone who was hell bent on trying this is, find a good company that can keep you busy & pays well that you can lease on to. Otherwise, you cant stay busy enough to pay the bills. There just isnt that much business for "Partials" or "Less Than Load" loads. When you do get them, they are paying partial pay for partial loads. honestly. Its not a full load so they dont want to pay a full load. So partial shipment = partial pay. Honestly.

    Good luck :)

Seems to me the weak link in these pickups would be axles especially at some of the weights guys load them up at. Not to mention braking. And if you want to hear some tall tales about mpg's ask a bunch of 3/4. - 1 ton diesel pu owners.

Anyplace I go to buy the fuel filters for the Ford, doesn't matter the brand or the place, they're all expensive. Unless you want to buy a large quantity, which since I only drive it a few days a month, wouldn't make it worth the trouble.

I get the oil for 18 in Motorcraft off Ebay and the fuel combo is like 20 something in off brand. The tranny is a 20 all day.

I go to Walmart for the oil and pay $18 or less, but can't get the fuel combo for less than $45, and I'm NOT putting cheap filters on it, I've seen the damage they do. I'm not going to saved $20 on filters and then eat a $1000 injection pump.

Here ya, That's why I buy the Motorcraft oil filter, the wrong size won't push the plunger all the way for oil pressure and cause a prob. Didn't think it mattered on the fuel, has two anyway.........plus I run the marine oil blended fuel.

    Injection pump ?

Which is why I wouldn't want to cheap out on an oil filter either, Powerjokes have a high pressure oil pump to power the injectors.

Personally, I'd stick with Wix or OEM filters from a reputable supplier, too many imposters and undercutters out there to trust my engine to cheap filters from some random dude on the interweb.
