First Run

No back haul was available. Ran back empty.

 

Running empty is not near as costly as loaded. I got 8-10 MPG better empty. I fueled once just west of flagstaff and still had a full main tank left when I got home to Indiana. I ran the complete trip on just under half the pay (barely), but I also had a lot of expenses that I will not have on future trips. Being the first trip, I bought several things to make it better. Don't need to buy them next time.

Oh, and that included food too. I did use some of my own money for some food, just because I wanted to. The second half of the pay was pure profit for me. I will take out for maintenace and such and still have a decent amount left over. I am pretty happy with it, but I won't sit on here trying to convince anyone else to do it. Too many naysayers for me. So far my experience has been awesome.

 

I have a quad cab. In 2012 FMCSA changed the reg to state that you can legally "rest" in your truck even though it doesn't have a full fledged DOT approved sleeper. You must log "Off Duty" and cannot log Sleeper Berth.

I made a makeshift bed in the back seat for now until I figure out what I really want to do. It worked out pretty good though.
