What are y'all pickups averaging cost per mile these days? Signing papers on a 2015 6.7 ford today and these trucks just keep getting more and more expensive. It almost seems like I'm gonna have to start bumping my cost up a couple cents.

Just a thought, not really directed to you but everyone with the same costs questions.
I am puzzled by the number of people who are asking about the cost of running a business that they don't understand in the first place. The problem is those numbers should have been worked out right at the start, not when you are ready to commit to a purchase. By the way I wouldn't have gotten a Ford and expediters don't use pickups.LGarrison Thanks this. -
Someone changed my thread name, I'm not an expediter. My other truck failed me so now this was an unexpected cost. I had all my numbers figured out before this happened. Yes I plan for unexpected expenses but not $50,000 ones considering I'm still real fresh. I'll stick with my fords bud. Grew up around all three brands and ford is what I've always enjoyed. Test drove all three yesterday and still wanted a ford.

For 2010 and 2011 it was in a 2006 Ford F350, (yes it was a 6.0). I did 84K miles and the total cost was 1.30 a mile. In 2012 I switched to a 2013 Ram 3500 and did 57K miles. The total mile cost was $1.51. It had a lot of problems. I took 2014 off.
I have a 2015 F450 that I will set up for 2015. I only work 3-4 months out of the year during the shipping season for RVs. -
Thanks for the helpful information. Those numbers are very comparable to mine. You must be pretty #### busy in those three or four months to be off for the rest of the year.

I never would want to deliver RVs full time. There is just not enough work for a full time job. I have been retired for 5 years now and have done the delivery thing every year since then except this year. I will go back for the next season in 2015. Around August there are just too many drivers fighting over scraps and low pay to make it worthwhile to stay working until the spring delivery season. Some do it, but that whole driving in winter thing is just not for me.

your paying out 1.30 a mile for a pickup?
-
-
But that 1.30 was pretty much just to pay expenses? Not necessarily paying yourself?
-
Not taking locked units was a big step as well. In 2013 I had made up my mind to only sleep 2-3 nights in hotels. I would pick up a unit late in the afternoon and stay around Goshen until the next day and drive the 10 hours, stay at a WalMart or rest stop.
