whats the advantages or disadvantages of these comparing to each other, ill have my own authority ins plates ect ect and was talking with ch robinson by email and they sent me a contract carrier app to fill out and send all my info back to them, i just wanted to look at there load boards and see if anythings worth it, i guess kinda like landstars load board, but im not interested in anyone haveing any say so in anything i wont to do or haul for so my authority is under comman for gen public, whats chr idea behind this and can you just use them as a dispatcher service sorta speak?

Now days I don't think there is much difference between contract or common. Common you have a published rate and Contract you negotiate a contract with each customer.
What contract do you sign to look at their loadboard. They post their loads on the internet for all to see.

The feds no longer make a distinction between common and contract authority.

Little off topic but CHR does not put rates on anything that's on their internal loadboard. Sometimes they do if they're utilizing ITS or DAT. Really difficult to establish a good working relationship with anyone there but if you persist and make that kind of connection they can be really good.

Call their carrier relations department or one of their offices and see if they can help you register.
