What's the best place you've dropped off at or best time you've had on the road?
Mine was this past load. Ran a plastic water tank down to key west. Didn't have enough hours to run back off the island so the receiver let me drop my trailer in his marina and go into town to sightsee and get some fresh seafood.
What's yours?
What's the best place you've been on the road?

When I emptied out or passed thru El Paso, Ciudad Juarez was the place to be. Great town, bargain shopping, and (of course), lots of pretty senoritas to have fun with. Waaay better than Tijuana or Laredo. I never had to worry about some 4 year old kid pick-pocketing me before I got 10 steps into town. That was back before 2006 when the drug cartel wars began, and they started chopping off heads by the thousands. I miss that place.

Not really OTR.. but years ago (1986 or 87) I picked up and then delivered motorcycle tires from the San Francisco Airport to Laguna Seca.. Did this for three days. Help off load, sort and stage the tires in the pits. On the last day, the Michelin reps asked if I would like to come down for the race (First year that the Formula 1 bikes returned to America)... hell yeah! Sat in the pits on Race day.. met lots of racers and was asked to return the next couple of years.. it was awesome!

I don't know if this was The Best, but... had a new student with me, and we were both low on cash. Parked in Brownsville Sunday afternoon for Monday delivery. Having been to Tia Juana dozens of times, I knew how things go down there... we had some food and soda, she was able to buy a (kindof) fancy belt, and we got back to the truck in Brownsville on about $10. The next day, after a sweaty unload, with no truck stops nearby, I drove us out onto South Padre Island... we did about 30 minutes of swimming in The Gulf, then we used the spray downs to get a light sudsy shower... (beach trips from my youth... thanks Mom for that trick.) So on a very low budget, we "did stuff" in tourist town.

San Antonio has always been one of my favorites. I attended trucking school there and was fortunate to have enrolled with a three day weekend in the mix of training. Riverwalk is a must for those who like to "celebrate" life. The second day I went down there, I lost my wingman and managed to over imbibe. As I was heading to the transit bus I fell off a curb and scraped a knee - it looked worse than it was, and yet a flock of women hovered over me - deciding my fate, I guess. All of a sudden I was ushered into a local restroom, cleaned up, and with a smack on the ### and a word of caution - sent on my way. Anyway, the locals are friendly and there really is something for everyone. "Coyote Ugly Saloon" is the perfect starting point if your there to party a bit...

I've always been partial to "home". That is where I have my best of times on the road.
