We have several smaller trucks running each week, The 08 Chevy HD 2500 with the Duramax left the driver stranded 2 winters ago in Selkirk, NY do to bad fuel according to the garage. The 08 F-350 dually was put on the hook last week for the 2nd time with engine issues, the GM has over 200,000 miles on it and the Ford has less than 150,000. I have a 2014 Dodge with Cummins, only 25,000 miles as of now and I really can't complain other than the DEF fluid that you have to deal with. Use to have a 1999 F-350 with 7.3 and a 6-spd manual trans, it pulled great and handled a 20,000 lb trailer with no problem, but the newer Fords have given a lot of negative issues. I'm not a salesman so each to his own.

Why are people who don't own a 6.0 giving advice? The reason why moderator don't want discussion on mods/deletes is because it's technically against the law. Which to me dont make sense because how many of us talk about cheating our logs or not tarping a load that you are being paid to tarp. No matter how crappy the load pays. You accepted the load. With any moter you will have issues. I own a 2003 6.0 yes it has "stuff" taken off and my pipe is str8. First thing I did when I got it was buy a radiator cap. Tyhe don't hold the pressure like they should after time. ARP head studs run around $4,500 and they have to take the cab off to do it. While it's off I would replace injectors around $200a piece and get something like a fass fuel system. You can youtube powerstroke help and watch his videos. He is expensive tho. Also an after market air fuelter. I have k&n.

Because the things you speak of spending money on dont happen to cummins normally until well after 200,000 miles. Head gaskets have failed on 6.0 Powerstroke at less than 50000 miles. Even 80000 is pretty common. Ford and Navistar got themselves into some pretty hot water, ambulances that hauled dying patients in the back had a dying powerstroke under the hood that liked to die on the way to the hospital.

Semi Trucks got away from V8 diesels nearly 20 years ago, I dont know why Ford and GM don't get it. Less moving parts in inline 6 means less stress on the motor and longer reliability.

I am sure some guy will chime in about his 8V92 Detroit or 3408 CAT that has 2 million miles on it. But that is the exception, not the rule.

For the price you can get a 6.0,if you can find one that does not have problems already it is well worth doing the mods and you will have a great pickup because them 6 o's run.As far as inline motors it is true that they have fewer moving parts and all big motor manufactures use them, but Dmax's are getting the same amount of miles as the Cummins so why go with a crappy Dodge just because it has a Cummins and a garbage Aisin.I personally love Cummins and have driven plenty of 500 HP ISX in Peterbilts, but I will never buy a junk Dodge.

I've got 148,000 on mine, I've replaced 1 injector and had a couple of seals go bad, that's about it. A lot is how you drive them, if you want to run all day long with your foot buried on the floor, I'd suggest a single axle class 8. If you just let the truck go at it's own pace, you'll be fine. Let it warm up good and don't let it idle a long period of time.

I wouldnt be afraid of a 2006 6.0. the earlier ones had more issues with them.

Dodge builds a good truck. A nice truck. A solid work truck. I'm a Ford guy but I wouldn't touch one of their diesel's past '02 with a 40 foot pole. Here's the thing with 6.0 Ford from a pure business standpoint. Who in their right mind (as competitive as hotshot is) would waste time and money on some half assed motor that needs thousands $$$$ in upgrades to make it reliable when they could get a diesel pickup that does a good job already in stock form, no mods, no spendy necessary upgrades to prevent premature failure, no cab removal to do routine jobs should they be necessary, etc, etc, etc? The 6.0 is a piece of #### no sane person would take a chance on. I don't care how long they've been out and what everyone knows about the bugs. Fact is they're money pits and poor choice for a business. About like SDP CAT's in the big trucks.
