I have a buddy who is leased to Landstar. He says their hotshot is more like expedited. Not sure if that helps.

He runs a drop deck so he is always busy. Not hotshot or expedited. At Landstar you log into your company account and book your own load. I have known a few drivers there and unless you know what you Need you may go broke figuring it out.

    When did that start?

The last time I checked, you call the agent up and tell them you will take the load. The problem with LS is that there may be five different agents posting the same load on the same board and not one of them "owns" the load to begin with.

To the OP, LS doesn't do hotshot, their expedite division - Landstar Express America - keeps most busy.

thanks ridge, i guess ill need to get registerd with the exp side as well, i finaly got going with landstar by posting my equip and it ask for weights so i put i mine and now i get about 10 emails a day with loads that i can haul from the destination i wanted, it shows miles, per mile rate, total to truck, contact info, most im seeing is 2.25-3.65 pm on these lighter loads, it gives the brokers initials too, i dont know if there is any room for price negotiations when its setup like this or not ?

Everything is negotiable. Those "broker initials" are agency codes. The agents are independent and each agency has it's own agency code. Some are sister agency codes. One will be a code that does a lot of the general freight and they may have a sister office with a different agency code that does express/expedited freight based in another city. Pay close attention to these codes and learn who is who and has what. Some of them are worthless and you never want to work with. A few are gold mines if you do what you said you would and take care of business. It takes time to learn the good from the bad.

You don't have to look for hot shot loads. Anything that can fit and weigh can go on your trailer. Look for LTL loads also.
