DnH doesn't usually happen in expedite. It does, it's just not common. But people who lease their own trailers wouldn't go there anyways.

But then again, if we're talking about thinking outside the box, expedite isn't going to be my only outlet for freight, either.

An Argosy? Bless your heart!! I thought I was the only one who thought a cabover would be a great platform for a high cube straight within a 40' length. Would you go with a single axle or a tandem?
your thoughts on this. An air lift tag axle at the rear of the box, and the drive axle 10'2" in front of it in order to carry the weight of a spread axle tandem. Think it would work or could there be turning problems?

There's an International 9800 for sale at exp editors on line classifieds. It has an extra steer axle in front of the tandems. Not sure if your scenario is legal.

I've driven two before. One owned by the man who built an Argosy stretch, and one 9670 Int'l stretched, which I owned. I'd love to get my hands on that 9800, tho. Not quite ready to get back in the seat yet.

I'm not quite ready to go back on the road yet either, but I sure am tempted at times.
If I could put together an Argosy glider with a 26' box and tandems that would be a nice setup. Only question for me is the money there to run as a single.

I'd look for a 28' box, as it's an extra two skids. I believe there's plenty of money in it, if you know what you're doing, or running for someone who does.

One thing I think of is the difference in weight carrying capacity. A 3 axle straight would be limited to a gcvwr of 46,000lbs. where as a 3 axle tractor pup trlr combo would have a gcvwr of 52,000lbs. I think the tractor pup trailer combo might be a little more manuverable in a tight spot. What do you think?

On my tandem s/ts, I rated them at 48k; tho they could've been rated at 52k.

A question. If you had a tractor and pup trailer, would you try to get on with an expedite company, try to lease to a regular carrier, or get your own authority and book your own loads? Any other ideas on how to utilize this type of equipment?
