Don't take that cheap freight! I may agree to $1.80 to RE- position myself to a better lane!

It's not cheap freight. It's supply and demand. Most of you think the broker is paying you $1.25 when their actually getting $5.00 a mile. I personally know 2 brokers and it's not the case. Shippers are not stupid, they know what a lane pays.

Cheap freight = low pay so it's whatever you'd prefer to name it. Just don't take it, let it sit, bottom feeders will grab it

The bottom feeders will take it like ALL major carriers. If you get $3.50 to go into NH from OH on 600 miles and take $1.50 bailed cardboard back you've made $2.50 on the round trip. If you dead head back you've made $1.75 round trip. If you sit for 2 days waiting for an extra $.50 cents per mile you have technically lost up to $1,200 in PROFIT!

I take pipe up to Williston, ND non stop and make my great rate goal delivering and dead heading back. There really is nothing to take out of there and if there is it's cheap and going to a craphole for freight.

I know the game sweety, just will not take cheap freight UNLESS it's pointed toward my front door or getting me out of the front door. In any case those are the ones that usually aggravate me the worst bc they always come with a price tag of some sort. Ugh ( like as we speak) Something's really need to change as far as these S/R's that think we are on their payroll and think we can sit around all day for their employees to decide they want to work... Ugh I know different subject 😎😎😎

I have a young friend who does flatbed freight. He's a real go getter and does the cheap freight when he has to. He grosses about $7,800 per week. He gets paid well to go into a bad area and takes the cheap freight out back to a good area.

I have another friend who lives near me in NH. He takes bailed cardboard out of Mass to Ohio for $1.50 and comes back at $3.50. He runs non stop and home every weekend.

I do that hauling van, except for the home every weekend. I think that would be harder on me anyway though bc I usually work 3-4 weeks n take two consecutive off, this time i only took 8 days off for ANOTHER DPF BAKING... Ugh

    Hey Charli,

I have another friend leased onto a company and is thinking about getting his own authority. I do flatbed and know nothing about vans. Can you tell me what the lanes are he should stay in? Reply quick, I think I have Ebola or a hangover.
