There is a lot of cheap freight going around and more shocking is the carriers willing to haul this freight.Do they not know their operating cost or are they just happy to have freight on their trailer.Regardless of what these carriers have on their mind when they haul this cheap freight it is only fattening the pockets of brokers and will eventually cause these same cheap freight hauling carriers to go out of business, and even after they are out it will be difficult to negotiate good rates because of these super low rates going around. It would not be so bad if one knew who these carriers were to give them a good old skool whooping.Just kidding, but seriously gentleman let's all get on the same page and make some money, not to get rich, but just enough to make a living.

Your in Minot!!!!! You need to move!
-
You can bet the loads delivering to the area paid very well ... cheap freight is just a result of an area consuming much more than it produces, simple supply and demand my friend ...
jbatmick Thanks this. -
Fair market pricing is determined by supply and demand. Too many truck and not enough freight will drive down the price. Fright prices are dynamic, meaning they often change from one place to another. How about that freight paying $5.00 per mile out of California compared to $3.50 per mile out of Houston?

I'm in San antonio, just never changed my profile.

I've been calling on a lot of loads lately that are paying $400 for 1500 miles and their not small loads either, between 10-15 feet and 5,000 to 8,000 lbs. And not in just bad freight lanes either. There was a 40ft container going from San Diego to Indianapolis for 98¢ a mile. Tried to reason with the broker but they kept saying it's locked in. I'd like to think that no one would ever accept these loads and that these brokers will stop trying to move everything for cheap but we all know there's those guys that will move that cheap crap.

There will ALWAYS be a broker trying to LOW BALL the rates and funny thing is there is ALWAYS a trucker willing to take the LOW BALL RATE been that way since the day of the horse drawn FREIGHT WAGONS
-
As far as brokers low balling its a business everyone is trying to make the most for their pockets and carriers taking cheap freight is always going to happen as well, but the rates lately have just been ridiculous like Nedrudt said big loads for the Low Low.

I took one of those loads once and just couldn't do it again. I picked up in recycle dump and I mean DUMP and I delivered to a DUMP on Ohio.
