LiteBug, I am curious about the BOC Agent. I've seen this doing my research for starting up. I am a little confused about the BOC Agent. Do I have to pay a company as a BOC Agent, and if so, where in our area (Central Ohio) would you recommend? If my wife is running the business end of the company, can she be the BOC Agent? Any information is appreciated.

    Thanks

A boc agent is someone who can be served papers for the carrier - it is a legal thing. The FMCSA wants to have someone responsible to receive a summons or a court order in case you skip town.

Here is the link you should read about it. It is not expensive and not a bad idea to have.

Thanks Ridgeline. I had read that but still wasn't sure who fills those roles. It looks like various businesses listed on the bottom of the page, but none from Ohio. I will have to delve into this much more.

    Thanks again

You don't need one in the state, you need one that covers the state. that should be easy to find.

Do you understand BCO agent and their purpose at this point in time? I know you will be back in Ohio soon, if not I will send you information on mine. Another thing. If I recall when I was getting my authority I got a lot of calls from them wanting to be our agent. Once you start filing it is public record and they will seek you out.

So, your getting better mileage with a f450 and the insurance costs less?? That's the first time I've heard something like that.
