I still miss it, but back into the aggregate game.
One thing I've been wrestling with is if I ever end up doing it again, I'm wondering if I would be better off with a small medium duty? Down sides are you would be down to 9 to 11 mpg but you would have a truck and engine that would happily go a million miles, have less breakdowns, safer, cheaper parts and service rates at the big truck dealers compared to auto dealers, and be able to have a legal sleeper berth.
I wonder if that would offset the slightly higher purchase price and fuel consumption??

I get about 10.9 to 12mpg loaded, but I'm glad I got 4x4 drive It was a lot of cars & trucks stuck on I65 KY last week. I was in that jam for 10hr -

I know what you mean FIRSTDEVILE. Not to mention some of the muddy fields you have to pick up your trailer in at some of the factories.
Only 10 to 12 MPG? That kinda starts making the medium duty look feasible.
I had 6.0 litre Powerstrokes and they were awesome on fuel. I was getting 13 to 13.5 loaded and could get up to 23 on flat interstate running. But I couldn't keep them running. You could find the odd good one that was problem free, then there were lots like mine. Even after studding and deleting it was still on ongoing nightmare. Head gaskets, FICM's, injectors, HPOP's, etc.chalupa Thanks this. -
Everything breaks. I'm just trying to figure out what would be the most cost effective.Last edited: Mar 17, 2015

The 6.0 & 2 was not good, now that 7.3 WAS AWESOME. So good they stop making because Ford was not making any money because they hardly every went to the shop. DODGE is going to have a problem when Ford takes that Cummings back

I can't see Ford using Cummins. They just dropped the Cummins and Allison transmission form the new F650/750's. They can only be had with the 6.7 Powerstroke and Ford automatic transmission now. I think that is going to be a mistake for them.

Some myths just never die. Ford does not own Cummins and never has.
