I agree with Truckon unless you are doing work that needs 4by4 less fuel mileage OTR more things to go wrong

The difference in 4x4 pricing and 4x2 is 4,000 . What are the odds I'll nee 4x4 . And they are asking for 7,500 down payment from me. So 4k is allot

Whether you need 4x4 depends on where you drive. If you're delivering materials to jobsites, I would DEFINITELY recommend it. If you drive in winter weather it can be helpful, but not necessary. Chains would do you better. Your biggest problem on slick roads is not making the rig go, it's making the rig stop. 4x4 won't help at all with that especially with a trailer on the back.

If you deliver only occasionally to jobsites, you could try to make your drop off at the entrance rather than slogging through the mud and gravel.

I use 4x4 because I live in Pittsburgh, drive in all weather and deliver fairly often to jobsites. In addition, I have a flatbed on the truck and often deliver with the truck only, no trailer.

The 5500 is overkill in my opinion and it's going to kill you in mpg.

Well I just bought the RAM 3500 crew cab 4x4 , it has the 30,000 towing with the aesin transmission and differential cooling. I also got air bags with it for &600.00. Next I need to add an external 100 gallons diesel tank.

Any of you know a good rewards program for a hotel chain by the highway? Sometimes I'll sl in the cab but at times I'll want a nice hotel room

Glad you went with the 4x4. I'm from NH and always owned a 4x4. As far as hotels are concerned they really don't have any great deals. Your best bet is to always book the room online. If your 55 join AARP. Super 8 is probably the cheapest and usually has truck parking. You can go on their web page and narrow your search by clicking on truck/rv parking.
