Ok remember, the back seat is not a legal sleeper so you can't log it as such. You are subject to the same rules we are. Make sure you get the correct load straps too and be sure the tires are rated for what your hauling. Need a fire ext. plus fuses and a daily vcr.

Read the BOL carefully too. If the shipper checks the HM box then it's hazmat and you need a lot more stuff including a lic. endorsement.

    Good luck....

To sleep in the sleeper you have to log it as off duty.

Scratches head in confusion. When I'm in the sleeper I log it as sleeper.

So...if you park at a truck stop when you're under a load, you can't log it as off duty? If you go home with a load for the weekend, you have to stay on duty the entire time?

If your at a truck stop your on duty or sleeper unless you check into a hotel. When you go home with a load and actually go home you are off duty. My understanding is if your with the load your either on duty or sleeper

So, if you stop at a truck stop to eat, you stay on duty? How do you log a 30 minute break? Do you log that as on duty?

I have taken out backseat passenger seat, run a twin mattress, from front to rear. Log off duty for 10hr. Never been questioned why I have bed in my crew cab, hot shot gets stopped a lot of times just because they are easy to inspect than a big truck also takes less time. Hot shot does not log sleeper because most of the time it does not meet DOT requirements ( size or strap restraints )

    chalupa Thanks this.
