Mc is live :biggrin_25525:& don't want to under cut myself, When I was delivering my freight I would talk to the Managers & they would give me their cards & told me they could always use a good carrier. Now I want to walk into the local ones & call the others that are not local.

So how do I ask what is your rate or do I say what my rate is?

    RamTruckerOhio Thanks this.

You tell them what your rate is. Sell yourself and your customer service.

I was thinking about that but, don't want it to scare them & lose out. I'm thinking when I go in just to ask for there carriers package & then hopefully they will state what there rate is.

Tell them what your rate is. Midwest is right sell your service. I only have one direct shipper. The lady I speak with used to be a broker when I first started shipping for them. A couple of times I was able to get them out of a jam so now have a good relationship with them. I would also be careful that you do not mess over any brokers that you may have worked with or will work with. As far as if they will tell you what their rate is I don't think so. One some of the work I did for these guys I gave them a rate and she would would say you need more for that, well having always worked off the boards I was selling myself short (only I never knew that) This is what I did I gave them a quote for all miles ( from my location to pic up and to drop off of 1.50 mi) or $3 loaded mi. That way if I dropped off and come back empty to pick up I could service the account. Now I am not saying you can do this with everyone. Like I said I have a good working relationship with them. I had worked with them before and let them know when I delivered ( simple call just like you do with anyone) Congratulations on the MC. Mike

It would also be a good idea to get set up with the Brokers handing the freight in your area, Chicago has a lot of freight that can go on a Hot Shot. A lot of fab shops. A good location.

thanks & I have done runs for these guys before that's why they gave me there cards. Mans its a lot of work in Ohio & it's plenty of times a shipper has asked am I local. They needed someone that can do local run for them & I had to turn it down. I will go back & look @ my notes before I come up with a rate.
