Expediting is nice because if you want to travel and see the open road while driving it can be done getting a streight truck into places is alot easier than a T/T and you are more free and open on the road you can pick and choose your loads any questions you would like to know I would be happy to answer them
How is life different as an Expediter?

I don't turn down much. I have found that the short loads most times put you into a position for the longer ones. The dispatchers remember and take care of the " runners" not the sitter.
Bluedew, Kimono_skunk and spuddatruckdriver Thank this. -

Just looked into it, here is what i had to do to sign on with a large company, my expenses below.
$900 escrow deducted $60 a week
$50 a week for administrative charges total $200
$35 a week insurance (workmans comp)
$20 a week insurance non trucking liability
$35 a week qualcomm rental
$45 drug test
here is the kicker, 3 weeks till 1st pay check!!
so thats what they wanted from me to sign on with them in my chevy express van, not to mention me driving up there 650 miles, getting a hotel for 2 nights all at my own expense, for orientation. Now i have been trucking for 7 years here in the USA, and i know that deal is BS, that may be one company, but most others have similar deductions, maybe im wrong, but even if i am, im not going anywhere near it.spuddatruckdriver Thanks this. -
Think of Expediting as "An Amblance for freight". I liked doing expediting, because when you showed up to deliver the load, and they have only one dock...you go to the head of the line...no matter how many other big rigs are in front of you. I actually had a big Auto plant stop production, because the dock worker set me up to get unloaded at midnight, after I had been there since 5:30 PM. He claimed I had backed in out of turn, so I pulled away from the dock, and called dispatch. When the line stopped they tried to put the blame on me. Well I had the smarts to write down the guys name who said I wasn't getting unloaded at midnight. There was a big Union/Company meeting as I was leaving, with this guy was in the middle, getting his butt chewed out big time. I stepped into the middle, and said to the group "You folks are all car salesmen". They said "No,we just build cars". To which I replied "You piss the truck drivers off,and they will buy another brand...then where will you be"? They got the point.
