Expediting is always sporadic. You can't expect to roll constantly. Anyone promising you that will probably get rich off your hard work and send you to the poor house. Much easier to stay busy with a semi but again you might be spinning the wheels for nothing also in a semi if not careful.

Ok very cool thanks for all the info guys. I was thinking of just doing a cargo van or sprinter cuz there's no cdl licence invol. I was thinking of buying one and O/O. Sounds like too much of a gamble for a guy with family of 5. Really looking for career change though. I've been a chef for 15+ years and tired of the kitchens. Getting older now and need some stability in my life plus a pension would be nice. UPS looks like the best but very hard to get into and don't really want to spend the years as a package handler at this point in my life. Looks like there's some other options for truck driving that has great benefits and pensions. I'm not worried too much about life on the road, I've spent plenty of months out at sea fishing so im kinda use to being gone for long periods of time. And I did do some catering truck driving for Extreme Home Makeover for a few years all over the us living out of hotels. In fact sounds like you can have descent time home if with the right company. Or event get local route after a few years of experience. I just moved form San Diego CA to Fort Wayne IN ( I know WHY would you do that LOL???). But there is lots of truck running though here and looks like they even have a decent school here call C1. It takes about 3 weeks to finish then I guess you have to go pay ur dues with some crap company that's going to beat you to hell for 2 yr to get some experience. Or I have also looked at Conway that offers a 12 week long school/training plus you can work the dock PT for a little income, but its down in Indy and 12 week sounds like a long time. I don't know there lots of info out there and can be kinda hard to figure out what works for you. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

The last thing you need to buy if you have a family of 5 to support is a sprinter or cargo van. That segment is so over saturated with too many trucks. Everyone has your same idea, no cdl, equipment is easy/cheap. Rates are poor. I'd suggest you go to an ABF terminal and fill out an application they are hiring. That's the best union job going.

I called dispatch to inform them that the shipper was taking too long to load the truck and the broker as I had been advised. Neither of them told the consignee who refused to accept the late load because they were not notified that I would be late.
Then dispatch rerouted me back through a wrong turn all the way back to the shipper. Allstate express promised to pay each way the same one way money plus $750 to sit on the load for 3 days. Later the manager said they were not going to pay 2 weeks later they declared they were not going to pay me what they owed me. I only signed up for the 30 days as a favor to the Recruiter and even submitted my 30 days notice right after I signed up. But I continued discussion of helping her hire friends and their obligations. That was until I learned that allstate express wasn't going to pay me the $2,200 they owed me.
I want to be paid, but the manager said they don't have the money.
How can you run a company and not have the money to pay the driver.

I wished I had known that before. Since I've been here I've lost money, plus my car & my apt. Been sitting in Mt Vernon Il for a week. Can't make money that way. On the hunt for different job.
