BTW I retract my statement about insurance being cheaper for additional trucks...my misunderstanding. They're all the same, the down is just less if you add them later because it's prorated for what's left in the policy year.

Iraqvet... I would suggest a LOT more investigating before you dive into this. Finding good teams to run your equipment would be only your first hurdle. Then you have plummeting rates, company politics, and fees up the wazoo. You need to understand rates vs running costs, how many loaded miles each truck would have to run before you're in the black, etc. It's not an easy thing! You can't just go out there and say, "I want that truck, that truck, and that van. I want you four to run those trucks. And we'll sign on with this company; and all will be hunky dorey." Ppl lose their asses thinking that way.

as a current independent expediter, this forum is not the best place for research, it's good but expediters online is specifically geared at the expediting industry, you should read back thru at least one year of post there and you'll find plenty of help from all members, some advise you may not really want to hear but it will be the truth. And Thank You for doing what you are doing for all of us over there

I belong to several trucking forums including those geared to expediting and hotshotting . While it's true a forum focused on a certain sector of the industry will have more posts geared to that sector members here also can answer most questions . I know expeditors and hotshotters and I post the most important information I learn here .
It's true expediting has been affected by slow freight and rate cutting like the rest of the industry . Experienced hotshotters seem least affected but it took a lot of hard work for them to establish the customer base they have and gain the reputation for reliable service that allows them to demand premium rates . It's not something somebody can just walk into .
New expedite members would be a real asset here sharing their knowledge .
