Panther Expedite Info

Panther is turning into a freight co. The company I drive for hauls loads brokered through Panther. The freight used to be mainly on-time automotive expedite freight. Now days it could be anything. Rates are down as well as freight.

Many loads are unloaded by air pressure . (It can't be done with flammable loads ) . The tanks have a fitting and are pressured to 10-20 lbs. of pressure to blow the load out . Tanks have a max pressure rating of 25-30 lbs. and pressure has to be kept below that level . Air unloading gets the tank and hoses real clean unless you have a heavy liquid like paint . Some customers use nitrogen to pressurize the tanks . Others that receive flammable products use their own hoses and pumps . I have many receivers where I don't touch a thing when unloading . I never handle any of the loading .

More about Panther... Do they pay for deadhead miles? How much to they pay for a dry van? Is Panther a good company as far as getting consistent miles? Is there a better company for this kind of scenario? Is there any advice out there for what I should do to get back to the $1.15/mile zone? Do you know of any potential drawbacks of dealing with and working for Panther?

I have called a couple times and had no response. I suppose that is a bad sign already.

I talked to a driver from Panther who told me they stopped hiring over a month ago. My friend quit trying to reach them on the phone because they wouldn't answer. Also heard FedEx lowered their pay rates to expediters and is cutting back air and truck capacity.

All expedite companies have cut back on the minimum rate . However , expediters have the right to refuse loads and many low paying loads are refused . Often the carrier will later come back with an acceptable rate . My problem with the expedite industry is the carriers will often lower the surcharge to give the customer a lower rate .
It is FedEx Express , not FedEx Custom Critical playing games with air freight . It's strictly political . They say if the Card Check bill passes they will cancel orders with Boeing and put the blame for resulting jobs at Boeing on politicians .

panther will tell ya 1.20 a mile then on the road offer ya 1.15 1.10 loads you will still lose

Does anyone know if business is picking up at Panther? Seems like the best expedited company in the business will see the recovery before anyone else. Just curious.

They haven't answered my calls. Do you think anyone is hiring someone with 20 years experience, clean DAC, perfect driving record with no infractions? I am looking for a company that will hire on a driver that will get into my truck.

Dear old Dad just can't seem to keep the bears off him, and his DAC is filled with excuses for being terminated. I just don't know what to say...I'm going to head into some serious losses if I don't boot him out of the truck. He isn't happy as it is, anyways.

If I can find a company that will give me loads for about $1.40-$1.60/mile, I can find the "perfect" driver. I understand that this site offers paid services in finding qualified drivers.

I am confident I can find the right person who wants to make some money. I appreciate any help in my search to find the right company, though.

Does anyone pay over $1.60/mile? I'm sure there must be some risky business that pays bank. Hazmat, perhaps?

$1.20 seems very low for expedite or is that in a van? If you think that the rate is too low, you don't have to take it unless you're driving for a fleet owner who says to do it or you want to reposition your equipment. Am I correct?
