I Think you will have a different opinion on these jobs after seeing this video if you were thinking of going over there to truck. The end of this video is tragic so you may not want to watch.

That guy panicked and coudnt start the truck...The mercedes has a system in it that makes you wait like 8 seconds before it will turn over, and before you turn the key all the way..If you do it to quick it wont start, and you have to start the process all over again..Now,moving on to the escorts..Prime example of a group of guys wo did not want to be there..They were very motivated to be a big group of babies..From a military standpoint, the goverment helped this out..Basically saying you cant shoot until you have the target in sight..Which means in a situation like this, you are moving through small towns, with alot of people out..It makes it hard to spot who is shooting. You have full auto weapons in the turret, that are made for laying down alot of rounds quick..They are not made to act like sniper rifles. And you cant stop, because you have civillians in un armored trucks..So some situations get very tricky..Very sad situation indeed..

Thanks for explaining that Iraqvet. It's difficult to understand what was going on there for the average civilian.

first off dont go thru thru the goverment or kbr get on with a drilling company thats where the money is father in law is a company man over there making 350k a year drivers make 200k a year that is tax free you become a citizen of the country your in 30 days on 28 days off 4 days air time 2 and 2 you have to search the drilling companys most are from the middle east thats why not to many drivers are doing it but they will hire you nothing like they say your on a sacure camp mostly all you will do is haul water and do rig moves worth the time to check it out i would be doing but felony stops me just a thought into it

    drilling companys

I would think they'd just hire local drivers. Good idea though, thanks for that. I'll look into it.

This was back in 2005.The EOF and ROEs hadn't changed yet.You had a couple of problems.

1.It was a new unit that got lost.
2.They already got rocked going down that street and they turned around anyway.KBR wanted to wait because they knew they'd be waiting for them.
3.This street has a lot of brick walls used as fences. This caused the guns on top to be of little use because of the problem of elevation.

The first truck that got hit was the Convoy Commander's truck.Back then they didn't have a driver. He was a young man in his twentys. He was dragged out of his truck and killed. This street was very narrow.Other trucks tried to pass the trucks that had gone down but only caused a bottle neck. There were other gun trucks in the rear of the convoy but they couldn't get to the front because it was blocked by trucks.

I've been in stuff like this.No matter how bad the attack is,a lot of times it just stops.I don't know if they're afraid of air cover or what.

I work for the foreman that was the foreman for this convey. They could hear the whole attack over the radio but couldn't do anything about it.

Like Iraqvet said,he needed to wait a few seconds before trying to start the Mercedes. On the other hand,if it did restart he could have been killed as well.

I worked for KBR as a TTM recovery operator Apr 05 to Oct 08, spent time in Analconda (spelled like that on purpose) Fallujah, Ar Ramadi, BIAP, and Scania

7 12 hr days=84 hrs a week= approx $1984 a week, minus 7.62% for Social insecurity, minus about $165 (single) or $500 (any dependants) monthly for manditory medical ins
truck drivers have the same pay rate as recovery, but sometimes get more hours.
You'll get $17.31 per hour, plus 75% extra ONLY on the FIRST 40 hours each week, then the base rate per hour after that. So, $30/hr total for 40 =$1200, then 44 hrs at $17.31=$761, math isn't exact but that's the way KBR's pay system works.

BEST place to start, www.dangerzonejobs.com and read everything. it's worth the few bucks if you are still serious. also, www.ICAonline.us is the international contractors association website.

    www.kbrjobs.com

www.itt-systems.com (may or may not have the dash in it)

It's NOT for Rambo's or GI Joes. We were all unarmed, we are CONTRACTORS, specialists supporting the military. If you wanna be a hero, enlist. If you want to do a job that only a few can do, and do well, under some of the nastiest, hottest, dirtiest, most dangerous conditions in the world, apply. You won't get medals, save the world, be in the papers. you will make a decent check, thumb your nose at the IRS, and know you were able to do it, you did do it, and you helped.

There are other companies there, DynCorp, AM General, Flor intl, honeywell.
