Has anyone replaced the fifth wheel plate on a Transcraft flat?
The center brace (on the top side) that runs fore and aft is rusted out, the plate hasn't bowed up yet but I'm sure it won't be long.
Can these be purchased from Transcraft or do they need to be fabricated at a welding shop? Anyone know the cost for this job?
Fortunately there are no cracks in the frame rails that I can locate in the front or the axle suspension area. I think this trailer did a lot of sitting and I know a lot of:biggrin_25523: rusting.
Maybe Wabash can improve the painting process at Transcraft.

I've been scraping rust for two days now on this flat I bought. I was beginning to think it wasn't such a bargain until I saw this trailer on Ebay, $3500 and it hasn't hit reserve yet. At least this makes me feel better.
Check this one out; Used Flatbed trailer disappointing how fast these trailers turn to junk.

Ouch. That one has run in too much salt and never got washed off.

That one will take some intensive repairs to get road worthy. Might just be to the point of scraping it out.
I see he delivers for $1.55 a mile. That would be nice for the flatbedders to get that rate. As poor of shape as its in, if he was to deliver it and it got put OOS at a scale I bet you'd have to go get it yourself, and then load it on another trailer.

I'm not sure what the answer is to your 5th wheel plate question is. If you have a good shop in your area ask them. They'll know the limits to their abilities.

I think the best way to deliver is on top of another flat.:biggrin_255:
    But it didn't sell
