I often read posts about drivers running with loose leaf logs. I'm curious to know the pros and cons of such logging, and why it's preferred by some over regular log books. Thanks.

If your a company driver and have a qual com or some sort of tracking divise, it doesn't matter. Except if you make a mistake. I like turning in logs that are in good shape. And loose leave allows me to do that.

    "Adjustments" are easier.

The only way to redo a page in the bound log books was to cut the page out with a razor blade. It can be done so that the DOT does not see that the page was torn out. Running two log books may be easier.

everyone knows why loose leaf logs are used, dot and the drivers. its a lot easier to readjust your day to your benefit. but everyone will have to adjust their ways soon and lots of guys will be losing money.

The main thing that using loose leaf for is so that you can have a legible and easy to read log book. While "adjustments" do happen from time to time it's not the "ONLY" reason to use them.
A bear or DOT officer will be impressed if he can actually "READ" your log book and might not look at it to find the mistakes or HOS violations.

I got pulled into the scales the other day and was asked to show my log book. I showed it to him. He opened it up, it was neat. The words were legible and was, to him, up to date.
Fortunately, he handed it back to me without going back to the third day. He handed it back to me and said "You really know how to fill out a log book"

I said, thank you and went on my way. The fourth page was the same day as the third page. Only was not too neat.

    Lucky me...
