My question is for driver"s who have had to switch from paper logs to the e log systym, first, how is it going for you useing this, second, have you noticed a loss of $$ since having to switch to these? I think it will be mandatory for everyone before my race is run,so I would kinda like to know what to expect..... Please,no lectures on I should not run illegal, etc.etc, the real world is what it is.....Thanx in advance:biggrin_2556:

The only way it will make a difference is if you routinely run illegal. Wouldn't affect me at all money wise. Pain in the butt wise yes. Could actually make me money since I get paid hourly for restarts. Imagine running out your 70 30 miles from the terminal and them having to pay me because I wasn't "home".

This is the point that many will find a problem with. No longer can they just edit to save time.

I think that the hard part is getting the planners to learn how to plan properly for legally run loads.
My company is not on e-logs but has gotten good at loading close but legal.
Some company's are set up so that almost all drivers are running over hours a large percentage of the time. These are the ones where you hear drivers complaining about the company having to buy more trucks for the same freight they do now.
No reason for this, accept that the loads should not be being run now.
Those people just need to get over it.
Rates have started going up some. If everyone ran legal they would go up more.

These are the type of carriers (bold above) that will be forced into using EOBRs. FMCSA's newest rule regarding mandatory EOBRs targets carriers that show a 10% or higher OOS rate for Hours of Service violations. The 10% threshold can be established as the result of a single compliance review. FMCSA had originally said that the 10% would have to have come from 2 CRs but pressure from safety groups caused FMCSA to toughen the standard.

That is what it is for yes. But most of these carriers never get an audit.
The way the old system was set up they would put a letter next to the code on safestat. They would do all A's and most of the B's every year. If they had time and resources they would do more. So most of these company's fell thru the cracks of the system because there overall safestat score was good.
With CSA2010 they will not fall thru the cracks like they did before, and I think many of these company's are going to have a really hard time when CSA2010 starts because many of them will be up for an audit as soon as it starts.
Because the old score that was ok on safestat is no longer good.

I am waiting patiently to see how it goes. My guess is that allot of the carriers that do this will just be put out of service and you will never see them again. Too bad too, since allot of these pay there drivers well compaired to the large fleets.
