I'd think the same, but look where his coil rack is. [I think that's what you call the 4X4's and wedge shaped things].
Likely I shouldn't have commented, never hauled a coil in my life!

I do think he had this on the front over the drives. Not where i would have had loaded it. I would had put this large of a coil on the center of the trailer. And use lots of chains. Like i say it only takes a couple of minutes to throw on a couple more chains. Better to be safe then sorry. You will never get in trouble for the time to put more on but would for a coil coming off.

He had the coil loaded in the right place. What your not seeing is he probably hada coil on the back the same size or bigger.

Just noticed, that back coil isn't secured!!!Last edited: Jul 17, 2010

those coils may be aluminum. If the guy in the pic with the coil on the catwalk had 2 that size on he was at least 30,000 lbs over weight. That is at least a 40000 lb coil. He may have set new racks up on the trailer just waiting for the crane to arrive. You can see one of his timbers at an angle between the coil and the trailer
johnday Thanks this. -
I would guess he just didn't get to tying the rear coil down when the phot was taken.johnday Thanks this. -
Those coils are a lighter colour than what most steel would be. -
dieseldon you posted the pic with the coil on the catwalk. did you see the truck?

coil racks have a weight rating too 10,000lbs for most!!!
