Just got off phone with Central Refrigerated.

Contacted them because they have been spoken highly of on the board here.

They were more than willing to put me in their "school", but when they found out I didn't need it I was told they were not hiring "experienced drivers" at this time due to lack of available trucks.

They have trucks and jobs for their school folks, but not "already drivers" ??
    Never heard of such.

Why would they go this route??

Is this a "driver mill" deal to get people to go their school, or maybe a push to get drivers to lease purchase ??

    I don't think so.
I kinda made it clear I didn't expect higher CPM than any other "recent grad".

It is all about the money they get from the students and then line them up for a lease purchase and dedicated to them with a contract for the school fees.

Trucking at some of these companies is no longer about trucking, but the additional income they can generate from the drivers.

They usually get all of their new trucks in the early spring. Right now if you were to go through the school and then with a trainer by that time all of their new trucks will be in. If they were to hire you now as an experienced driver they would need to find a truck right away for you. They sometimes cancel school too due to lack of trainers and or trucks. They also do this with their hiring areas. When freight slows in certain areas they don't hire out of those areas because they wouldn't be able to get drivers home. My wife and I used to pickup the new trucks every year and deliver to Central that's how I am familiar with their works. Not defending them, but Central is usually pretty straight forward and they deceive or scam their drivers or pre hires.
