Keep the "clean" version with you up front....but don't have anything but the current working log in the "mistake prone" log book previous to today.

Just don't have 2 log books "working" at the same time!

    confused yet?

Are they paying you by the hour to do that? Go buy a clipboard & save yourself the aggravation, then you could still use the company logbooks.

Otherhalf you beat me to it. I worked for Greyhound at the Santa Barbara,Ca terminal about 20 years ago. One of the extra board drivers didn't have his logbook up to date. His fine then was $500.

I just yank the staples out of mine.

If and when I make a mistake during my day, I usually just correct it, then circle the mistake and write a few words as a reason for the mistake. Figure that if the DOT checks my books that day, it's obvious that I am not trying to hide anything or falsify my logs, but is just a simple mistake. Then, at the end of the day, I will recopy that log with the mistakes to look neat and be correct.

Have yet to be checked with any of my mistake logs, but I have been checked with my stapes removed books, and the DOT had no issue with it.

I dont think they care to much how you do it , staples removed on a clipboard , loose leaf or pulling pages adding new ones and resetting. they want nice neat readable logs with stright lines. A clean truck inside and out with neat logs will have you just driving by when the DOT guy standing on the scale is hand picking his paycheck for the week.
