    if e-logs are so good then why aren't schools training drivers to use them

    i called the school i am planning on going to and they don't train on e-logs


    and i was just wonder if the e-logs set up differently for each company

    i just asking as i do not use logs at all driving grain hauler and i just go no more 40 miles from my home

    They don't train because there are some many different variations of eLogs. They all look different and take different input types. Where as your log book all uses a pen, and numbers.

    so from what i gather that there is only big companies to work for. no small outfits that hate e-logs/qualcomms?

    Those issues aren't caused by elogs, but rather by companies who do not have them set up properly, or idiots in safety who do not know the regs. You can use your commercial vehicle as a personal conveyance and log it off duty.

    Not going to name names, but the company I'm with tried four of us on the elog machine, three months ago. All of us had our own way to make it look as though it would be a useless venture. I for one, kept my taser fully charged, one good zap, and what do you know? dang!, guess I got to use the comic book version......:biggrin_25523:

    With e-logs you can move around a t/s and it will not shift to driving unless you go more than two miles or over 15 mph(this is how my company does it). If you want to drive to Walmart just log out of computer and when you log back in computer will ask if you want to include the logged out hours to you, just respond no. My company has never questioned me about doing this. If they do, I will tell them I used truck for personal use.
