I worked for Drive Star out of Caledonia On. a few years ago. I enjoyed the job but what the guy above said about drive away companies is true. Drive Star is no exception. Part of their business plan was to screw the driver out of as much money as possible. They may be better now but I doubt it.

Im starting with TruckMovers next week but not sure If I want to do singles with my tow vehicle or move piggyback.
What are the pros and cons of both? Which will make more money?
I have moved singles before for my own repo company with a toad which is great because I pretty much have a rolling storage building with all my cloths, tools and other junk. What I really need help with is what to carry with me If I decide to do piggyback. (tools, supplies, etc) Flying is definitely a ##### as it is, what do I carry as luggage where all my stuff will fit and how many bags are necessary. Do I put cloths and personals in one bag a check a bag of tools?
I been an over the road driver for some time, so being on the road isn't new to me but driving, taxiing and flying in combination is a whole new ball game for me.
Any help would be appreciated. -

PLEASE HELP: I have talked with a driver who "loves" working with Horizon & talked with they're recruiter... Both sound like recruiters. What's the real take on this company & others like them? Can you really make $75+k annually as they say? Or is it all smoke and mirrors? I see the RV's everywhere, some dedicated few must be making good jack$ !
My experience is about 5 yrs OTR and about 20yrs cabby. I am a driver & can handle the time away from home. No kids, wife or dog... lonely life but I enjoy the world around me thru the window I guess... -
I am nearly at the end of my rope, once again, with drive away.
They constantly take money for damage not created by the driver. They do this routinely.
My best experience has been when I work for more than one company because you are not compelled to take their low paying runs.
Got off a 700 mile run and I averaged about 150 a day. I can do better running local!
On the good runs, 500 a day (after fuel) may seem like a lot but after the other expenses, lodging, food, travel, travel times (one to two days), waiting on next dispatch to assign, the daily average drops significantly, especially when they require taking singles or short run decked.
Going on my 7th year doing drive away, my advice is think twice before commiting to this life style. -
