not sure if the experienced truckers spot is the best place for this one but i need to hear from anyone with more experience with this POS box than I have......

cannot input and the touch-screen is inoperative.

sure it talks. no, it has NO mastery of the english language. I had to call the receiver just to get the name of the street they're on becuase the q/c couldn't pronounce 'westgate parkway' in anything that sounded like english.....

i can't scro\ll beyond what appears when the screen comes up. i can toggle between the different functions, messaging, hos ect ect but can't scroll the screen and can't touch to input anything. it's just frozen.

i can't get directions to the customer.....which leaves me relying on gps which almost wrapped me up in a spot i couldn't get out of in downtown smalltown bfe deleware today. i can't log off of line 3 so it's going to have me in violation of hos in just a couple of hours.

dispatch / dm has been no help. he doesn't seem to think it's such a big deal. well, he didn't have to make that turn from the goat path onto the one lane street today either. i wonder how he'd like it if they took his computer keyboard away and told him him still had to do his job.....

'that's why you have paper logs in the truck'.....yeah, and don't get me wrong, i'd RATHER run paper....but the downside is I can see where i'm picking up, but can't scroll the screen to see where i'm delivering.....and so far the voice in the box hasn't really spoken anything that sounds like intelligble english.

anyone have this problem before? any way to reboot or reset or otherwise make it play nice with me? or is it just fried and do i need to take it on to the shop (which i suggested doing today but kinda got the idea that wasn't the idea they were looking for)

any suggestions would be appreciated. otherwise, it's only monday and it's going to be a looooonnnnnggggg week if i have to try and decipher qualcomm english all week.

    thanks

not sure if its same model i have used but ill give it a shot...park of course lol they have different set times to power down. let it power off turn the key over but dont crank. as soon as it turns on crank the motor. itll throw a quick surge to the qc when the screen flashs turn the truck off n restart real quick. when the qc name pops up im asuming because mine did. turn the truck off and turn key back over to power qc again.. hope i didnt confuse ya. if that dont work the unit should be under your bunk. find the power plug and disconnect for 5 minutes reconnect and see if that worked...thats the only 2 tricks i know. ive had the same issue you described and it worked for me. It also fixed "fatal errors" that popped up on a black screen and locked the qc up. hope this helps...if not you have a tire thumper right? lol

call qualcom at 1-800-541-7490. They will ask for the serial # and then they will fix it for you remotely. I had the same problem.

okay so here's the fix if you have the right bit in your tool box and will keep you from going under the bunk to the main box lol.....

flatbedder ahd the right answer just more than one way to go about it......it's a ####### computer after all so it had to be rebooted.....

i pulled the two screws out of the back of it and unplugged the connection from the back of the unit and left it laying in the floor for about 30 minutes, plugged it back in and it works. sure wish i'd have thought of that this morning.

and thanks for the support number, will definately keep that and try it if something goes down on it a reboot won't fix.

First off pull the fuse for the minutes. All electronics have a fuse. Some companies hide them so eighths truck off if needed just begin pulling all fuses withweird titles like "cabaccessories" hopefully its marked. On a side note I use my smartphone to google earth many smallville locations to avoid the problem you had. Good luck and keep safe.
Many times the simple answer is the easiest.

Found a link to qualcomm's own diagnostic chart.
    Two very helpful things:

    1. If touch screen doesn't work at all, press and hold the talk button (top right of the unit) for 10+ seconds, until you hear an error beep. The screen will go black a few seconds, and then come back on. It should work after that.

    2. If the touch screen works, but the pointer isn't where you poke, press and hold the left arrow button.
This is the button just right of the screen, not the left arrow on the keyboard.
Hold that for 10+ seconds until the error beep. A crosshair will appear on the screen. Tap it to recalibrate.
