Hey, I saw a funny looking switch on a truck's dash that I've never seen before. It's the turning-knob that looks like something on a washing machine/dryer in the truck interior image (of the dash) at this link: http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=3100529&
The link may expire eventually, but as of today 9/10/11 it's up on truck paper.
It's above the air brake buttons and over to the right, also above something that looks like it says "cummins" (but is kind of blury in the picture).
I know it's not the most important thing in the world I'm just wondering what the heck it is as i've never seen anything like it.
If you know please let me know so I can stop wondering.
Thanks!!!
anyone know what this funny looking dash switch is???

idle shut down timer
Joe4167 Thanks this. -
canuck_in_da_truck thanks a bunch... I've got over a year of 18 wheeler experience, three total CDL years, and I've never seen one of those. I've driven new trucks, and old. I was even lucky enough to drive a 1986 359 Peterbilt but still, never seen a switch like that.
Now I can stop wondering what the heck it is.
Thanks! -
I was gonna say control knob for the ejector seat.
-
i dont think they had them out that long--i can only remember them in a few trucks where i worked in the early 90,s
-
the adjustable idle timer was not very useful , If driver wanted to idle for heat or ac , he wanted to idle longer than 30 min.
-
micro wave remote control or TV antenna remote LOL
-
That looks like the timer control for the sunlamp in the showers. Did the last driver have a nice tan?

until I went to the link and saw how NEW the truck was, I was thinking from the description that it might have been one of the manual twist knobs that was on the old pre-electronic engines to set the rpm speed up to fast idle or PTO, just after the dinosaurs died.

that add couldnt possibly missrepresent that truck anymore if they tried
its a 379 not a 386
i've never heard of a 61" sleeper
