I am new and starting school next month so I was wondering as an OTR do you sometimes go to the same place often?
As OTR do you get the same pickups occasionally?

Dediciated routes are pretty much the same customers
-
Even as a "system" driver (non-dedicated), after a period of time you will see repeats.
-
Yes you do, especially if you do produce. Salinas, Ca./Yuma, Az. a lot. Beer loads, warehouse distribution places, You will go back. A good idea is to keep a little mini ledger with directions to places you go. Then, 4 months later, when you go back, you can refresh your memory as to how to get in there.
heyns57 Thanks this. -
Depends on the size of the company, of course, but even at the biggest of them all, I've gone to the same place repeatedly. And there are many more customers I've only been to once. I'm sure with a smaller company, there is more repeating.
-
Most definitely! Even if you are not a dedicated driver the company you drive for usually has customers that they pull freight for on a regular basis.
-
Yes. I've been back to the same customers dozens of times.
-
I was bouncing between General Mills facilities in Albuquerque and Roanoke, TX quite a bit when I was pulling Werner trailers. And twice I've picked up paper rolls at Pratt Industries in Shreveport, LA and dropped them at Georgia Pacific in Santa Teresa, NM when its time to get home.

It really depends on your company and your dispatcher. With a large company you can go to the same shippers and receivers often, but not quite as often as a smaller company with a smaller customer base. So it really all depends on the company and your dispatcher.
