You mean prked regen? It has to do with the emissions system. I think it cycles a particulate filter regen cycle while you are parked and idling. Something like that, I remember reading it on a '07 emissions Detroit diesel engine user manual.

Park Regeneration I assume your talking about...

This is the new emissions laws that require you to burn the SOOT that accumulates in the DPF (diesel particulate filter)... There are lights on the dash that tell you when you need to do a manual park regeneration.. This is very important as it will decrease engine power as filter gets full and if you don't do it after engine light and regen lights come on then your in trouble..

Most truck with automatically do it at highway speeds and you wouldn't need to do the manual burn off... Just depends on how often your at highway speeds and such.. Also you can get trucks with a separate liquid that basically takes away having to do manual re-burns regardless if your at highway speeds or not.. It's called DEF (diesel exhaust fluid).....

I would look at your manual so you understand how it alls works if you don't understand it completely still.

Something you should'nt need to use. It starts a high idle regeneration that your motor will normally do on and off through the day. If you get a plugged warning light call your shop and they might have you try a "parked regeneration" or take it to a shop.

I have an 09 Columbia with a Mercedes engine. We,ve had nothing but problems with the regen system,I would always have to do a parked regen on it with little results.I could never get an answer on how to correct it from anyone.
My friend ran a school bus company.they run Cummings and he said that they ran the buses on the highway for 30 miles over 55mph without touching the brakes to do a highway regen. Since I've done it that way.I've never had a problem again.

You should have an instruction placard on the drivers side visor...pull it down and do what it says.

pushing the button does NOTHING if it doesn't need a regen

There is some flaw in the wiring or sensor relay on this one...the parked regen has to be forced from a computer hook up!

So far, the only solution for this POS...is if the "high exhaust temp" light is on...can't shut it down to even fuel, and no increase in RPM either.

I vote we all go back 20 years and get real trucks with mechanical components and chuck all the electronic computer relay BS!!!!

I just got put in a 2010 Pro star, so far have had to run a parked regen every day, the rolling regen doesn't seem to fix the problem. This POS doesn't take DEF so that won't fix it. Also have a nice rattle rolling around at low speeds.

    Hell yeah!
