That was my main question. Do you have the D2 unit??? That is the one I am going to have installed this up comming week i think, it is 41,500 installed and has a 2yr warranty. I was going to fix my Webasto but I have to service it every single fall and I am tired of it. $250 in parts everytime!!!

WOAH?? How much? Should that be 4,150.?? The $250 for service sounds pretty high but maybe you can figure out whats involved in the service and do it yourself.
It's still only about $3 a day to run if my math is correct or maybe $4,200 for fuel the first year. But I did the fuel at $3. a gallon. 1440 hours as you won't run it every night that it's cold. Not to mention the "miles" put on the trucks engine as it's sitting keeping you warm!

They are a good deal for keeping warm! Now add the Tri Pack unit and save more by the end of it's service life. Keeping the batteries charged, engine warm for starting and you comfy they are no brainers for the O/O L/P and companies.

There is a good thread somewhere in here where we talked about the APUs and the consensus was get them but get them new and take it with you when you buy another truck. We did talk about getting them second hand and then the cost but the cost won out over idling tickets, freezing and heat stroke and keeping the truck charged and ready as the batteries didn't take the beating they can while using an inverter until the cutoff shut it off and having to start the engine to charge the batteries.

Many people do not understand that things that run on the trucks batteries drain them faster the longer these things are connected to them. They are NOT deep discharge like the one on your bass boat. With bunk heaters and inverters you are not really getting something for nothing. Adding deep discharge batteries to the truck side will enhance the use of bunk heaters and the life of those batteries! And those bunk heaters won't shut off too early due to a low charge! Add the APU and unless it's dead you'll never have that battery problem.

Yep...D2. Works fine.... I assume the price you'll pay is $1500.00 not $4500.00...

Yeah, $1,500 is what I ment. And the $250 was for a new glow plug, relay, fuel filter and pump. This has been a yearly occurance for the last 2. I have had the unit since 2007 so maybe it is just time for a new one.

And I will not use the heater when it's below 30* as I will idle the truck to keep up the batteries and make sure it starts in the morning.
