I seem to have barely skimmed the surface on trucking, now that I've spent 10 minutes on this site.

I would like to know what should I be asking potential Trucking Schools??? I don't want to regret the school I choose.

^ some people will badger first time posters and people new to trucking. Don't mind them, they just had a rough day most likely :)

    - Ask how much their tuition is (should be somewhere in the 3-5k ballbark)

    - Ask if they have financing for tuition, and if they accept grants from jobs services in your area

    - Ask how many hours they credit you with when you graduate
(certain companies only approve schools with something like 150+ or so hours credited)

    - Ask about actual driving time compared to just sitting in a classroom or in the back of a truck watching someone else drive. The more hours you get actually driving the rig the better.

    - Ask what companies they are accredited with and which companies send recruiters out. Typically if they have 7 or so more known companies that do pre hires from the school then they are legit.

    - Ask their job placement percentages per the amount of graduated students.

    - Ask what the class schedules are and length of course in weeks

Ask what the turnover rate is for carriers that recruit there . It is likely over 80% . That means if they employ 1,000 drivers they have 800 quit a year . Then ask for references from all the students that have graduated over a year ago that they know are still driving .

    OnTheRange Thanks this.

Thank you both. I have a list that I'm interested in and now I know what to ask them. Hopefully I'll be in school in January

It's a capital crime to ask a question on this site that has already been addressed among the thousands of threads somewhere back in 2007.

That is what you need to know first and foremost, lol.
