Ok here is a new one to me. Started fueling today, went to the passenger side, removed the nozzle flipped the pump lever and fuel sprayed everywhere.Whatever person fueled before me left the nozzle lever locked in the on position. Whether the driver fuels that way to get every drop, or did it as a prank, it's wrong. Jeans and boots I will try to salvage, shirt was soaked so I threw it away. Boots are 2 days old.
So if you flip the pump lever off first to get every drop, please disengage the nozzle lever.
Now the island and pull up area were empty when I pulled in. I asked the manager for the company name and truck number of person fueling before me, knowing he might not be able to retrieve that info. But he didn't tell me he couldn't, he told me he WOULDN'T give me the info.
So, lesson learned.Last edited by sevenmph; 07.03.2012 at 12.56 PM. Reason:: removed potty mouth word.

Well, nozzle should be in the tank before you activate the pump, but that sucks. Is why I always finger/release the lever before turning the pump on, and again when hanging it up.

But there are no rules at the pump. Every man, woman & child for themselves.

following simple rules at the truck stop like pulling up , using four way hazards and keeping your speed safe is all part of being a good driver. How we drive at the truck stop carries over onto the road and customer. Kenszo

Very true, I see a lot of people leave the fuel island or just driving through the parking lot acting like their taking a test to see how many gears they can grab before they have to stop at the exit, for the exits that do have stop signs anyway.
For large parking lots I don't go into high range, on my 10 speed I usually creep in 4th, 3rd if its a tight place.

Just to add in case it hasn't been mentioned yet... Shut your headlights off when entering any truck stop, rest area, scale and shipper/receiver. Be courteous to your fellow drivers!

I think they need to put eye beams in the fuel isle with timers on them with a clock on the canopy in front. you pull in break the beam the timer starts... you have 20 minutes to get out of the fuel isle or you lose your discount!!! (assuming of course the shmuck on the yellow line is gone)
I will say that due to the totally crappy parking situations at the pilots, I would rather see a trainee/rookie sit in the fuel isle for a few minutes then attempt to back in and rip my hood off.
