With the new hours of service rules it states that you can only have 1 34 hour restart in a week. What if you drive for 11 hours then are off for over 34 hours such as 40 can you have a restart then or do you still not get but 70 hours after your first restart for the week? So after you work 11 hours you still only have 59 for the rest of the week regardless that you had a 40 hour break after those 11 hours?

With these new rules that wont take effect til july of 2013 you will be allowed tonoting only ONE 34 or more period as your restart. Take another one after that but before the 168 hr timeframe(7 days) , time is gained back from your recap only.
ECU51 Thanks this. -
My understanding is that if you take more than one 34 hr restart, you will go to jail, and you family will be put out of their home. Any pets will be euthanized.
At least that's the way I read it. -
Tracy you forgot about the train ride to the "labor camp" This country is getting scary. Maybe if we restart twice we would fall under the new "Prolonged Detention" that is on the book now where you can be held WITHOUT TRIAL for up to ten years. This is just in case they THINK YOU WILL COMMIT A CRIME IN THE FUTURE. I have know idea where they are going with all these new laws and regulations but they make no sense so I'm betting its not good.
So the answer to your questions is most likely yes. After all we all know that after ten hours off we are so tired that soon we will be driving two off ten then a four day restart......crazy -
Seems to me that after every 34 hour break your hrs would go back to zero & it wouldnt make any diffrence how often....
