I was told in driving school I attended that truckers are allowed to claim something like $57 per day we are logged for food with out receipts. Has any one heard of this or used it and if so can you tell me where its stated.

I believe you would get a better response on this if you posted on "Experienced Truckers advice" I hope you agree; but I am going to move it over there ok! If you need help finding that link let me know, but it is on the main page.

I know you get a perdiem but I don't believe it is $57.00, BUT AND A BIG BUT I could be very wrong. So lets see how it goes over there ok!

Unhappy The IRS will pull your fingernails out....

Not really, but they will make you pull your own hair out.

Yes, you may claim per diem without receipts. The amount varies depending on which region you are in, how far from home you are, and how many hours you're gone.

$ 57 per day is okay in a few regions, but is way too high for most. The IRS has tables published on their web site that explains the rules, and the amounts allowed in each region.

Be prepared to keep your "Driver's Daily Logs" for a long time because that will be your "certified" proof of when and where you were on any given date. When you get audited, and you will, you'll be needing that information.
