It's called a Headlight. You need two...

I don't run OTR. I like my little 400 mile a day run, 5 days a week, home every night dedicated. But every now and again I get asked to take an extra run. This weekend it was a solo bump from Columbus, Oh. (my home terminal) to the TA in Foristell, Mo. Go over, swap loads with a guy from KC, head back to Columbus. Just enough to realize why I like my dedicated so much.

I did my bump and headed back east planning to take my 10 at the Petro in Effingham. As I pulled in I pulled up to the fuel island for a splash of diesel. This guy pulls in the island next to me and has a headlight out. As he steps down I mention to him it's out just in case he hadn't realized. His response? "Yeah, so?" :biggrin_2554:
He then goes in the fuel building and when I walk in I see him buying two 1L Mountain Dew's, a big bag of Doritos, and two candy bars. No fuel. No headlight. Total about: $9

I go out and park and notice he's parked across from me. Idling of course because after all, it was sunny and 55. I catch up my paperwork and go in for dinner. There's Popeye, spending more money on food at the buffet. I sit across from him and in general conversation the headlight being out comes up and I mention he might want to get a head light. He says "That's up to the company to take care of. I can't afford to buy a headlight for their truck." :biggrin_25512:
Buffet and drink: $15 (he leaves no tip)

After dinner I see him stop by the table the girl scouts had set up and buy 3 boxes of cookies at $4 a box. Total: $12

So this guy can't afford a light bulb, maybe $15 at most, but he can spend $36 on food, and mostly junk food, in the matter of one hour at one truck stop on one Saturday. And he looked like he should for spending it all on junk. T-shirt that didn't cover his pimple covered hairy belly. Jeans that hadn't been washed in weeks and hung off his ### showing his lovely cheese filled crack. I wouldn't hire a guy like this, but RENREW apparently does.

Thank you P.O.S. driver for reminding me why I don't consider you my peer.

And then these loser steering wheel holders wonder why the big fleet outfits pay "poverty wages". It's because they pay for what they get. You want to make a decent wage, try doing a decent job. What a novel idea eh?.

grizzly, Everett, 48Packard and 4 others Thank this.

I am a new driver, but try to take care of myself and my truck. It's all about priorities, and obviously, this fellow does not have his lined up.

Wonder what he will do when his one good headlight blows?

Oh and I wonder how he can say he properly pre-tripped his rig?

Simple, he will get canned and then come on TTR and complain that the big fleet companies are screwing the drivers with poverty wages.

Not necessarily. they may pay just fine, it may be that their employees just don't give a #####.....which seems to be the norm.

lol Maybe I am the only one who caught who that company is. And they definitely don't pay well. In fact I believe one of the worst in the industry. But anyways as others have said its his license. If hes to lazy to take care of that even if it means spending a few bucks and waiting to be reimbursed then it's his problem. And eventually the safety scores and all these new rules will weed out the weak and ignorant and those of us that are left can maybe demand a higher wage because of it. So hey more power to the lazy people, keep it up!
