| Older Truck for Newbies Wonder if it wouldn’t be advantageous for a Newbie to take as their first job a position driving an older rig? It seems that a person starting out needs to gain the experience of dealing with the idiosyncrasies and mechanical problems of an older truck. I think there are many. Think that a Newbie that spends their first year/s in a relatively newer truck is missing a great deal of information they will eventually need to learn. A person would learn a lot pushing a rig that is more than 10 years old with a bunch of miles on it. Wonder what the old guys think?  |

| In theory I like what your saying but I see a lot of new drivers going to the big training companies that are getting put into 500k+ mile trucks that are in a constant state of breaking down already because all they are is 'retired' training trucks. These things have spent the last 2+ years being beat to #### and back. Usually the company just starts letting things slip a little, next thing you know the truck wont pass DOT inspections. Or the driver starts spending more time in the shop then on the road. I lived this life for 3 years, now I baby my trucks. |

| I think maybe he was referring to a local job, like pulling a dump trailer for a construction company.
