failed a drug test 4 years ago.
Hi my name is scott, and I used to drive from the year 2000 untill the year 2008. I happend to make a mistake in my younger days and I failed a random drug test. I was still an excellent driver, I guess what I want to know is can anybody tell me if I will ever maybe drive again. I called my old company I used to work for (Schilli) by the way an excellent company to work for, even though I made that mistake, I still have nothing bad to say about them. But anyhow, they told me to straighten my licsence out and give them a call back. I worked for them for three years. Has this happend to anyone else maybe someone knows, and they got back in a truck? Because trucking is all I know, and I was very good at it. My dad bless his heart has been truckin for twenty-seven years. well if anybody can talk to me , any advice will help. I've never had any accidents durning my career as a driver. any advice is good advice to me. thanks.

Hi Scott, welcome to the forum. We all make mistakes.Four yrs ago is along time but when it comes to trucking, iti a very unforgiving career.I would keep looking, maybe get out there and go apply to companies.Sometimes talking to them in person you get much better results then online applications.

I'd go back to your old company and tell then you want to go through the "Return-to-Duty" process. You can find out at the FMCSR section 40 subpart O. It starts at §40.285.

If his old company already told him to "straighten his license out and get back to them" then it sounds like he's already got a job waiting.
Yes Scottie many drivers have made mistakes, spent the better part of a decade unemployable as a CDL driver and gotten back on the road.

It sounds like he did. Maybe just wants some input as too whether or not anyone else has been in the same position.

What's wrong with your license, that you "need to straighten it out"?
