moosetek, every driver makes a bonehead move from time to time . anyone that he never does or hasnt at any time is a liar. does that make someone an unsafe driver? or would consist of a consistent pattern of bad moves that would do that?
seeing someone make a wrong move is no cause to turn in a guy or send a video etc, if you were to observe a consistent pattern of bonehead moves that would be a different thing entirely.
you have enough to deal with these mega-carriers writing guys up for ACCIDENTS when all they did was bump a trailer or scratcha trailer etc. they do this to prevent a guy from leaving and going anywhere else.
some of you , and no ill will intended, only know what a mega-carrier propaganda machine has told you in training or orientation, they have guys scared of their jobs, and they give their version of how the rules and regs are, not what they really are.
example the vast majority of mega fleet drivers are told you cant be on duty after 14 hours, when the rule actually states you cant DRIVE after 14 hours.
they encourage ratting folks out and this results is a culture of trying to get folks fired and turn them in for a cookie and glas of milk or a pat on the head.
the you have the others who ended up in trucking thru a failure of another job whether the economy or whatever, they feel like this is beneath them, they have been forced into it, and hate every minute of it. their mission is to "get back" at everyone associated with the business, they turn in evry driver who so much as bobbles the wheel, take pictures and lodge complaints, they feel a sense of empowerment from doing this, from being a weasel.
which one are you? there used to be a term for jokers like that, we called em dimedroppers, and they usually ended up with darkened eyes.

Bonehead Truckers are drivers who don't get it. Yes people make mistakes. I can show you mistakes I do daily. But crap bags in rest areas? Flip flops at shippers and receivers? Picking fights at trucks tops? BONEHEADS!!!

It's everyone's business.
More time behind the wheel only makes one forget the basics, and that goes for courtesy, too.
A lot of those major accidents are done "...by drivers with clean records that never had any problem before..." How many times have you seen that statement about a seasoned driver in a major accident.
Sometimes drivers with experience get complacent and drive worse than rookie drivers. It happens.
Usually just a quick call on the CB gets them back in the game. Sometimes it just gets a callous response.. "from a seasoned driver with an attitude.." who doesn't like being told about something he just did that was "hazardous" to the driving public.....because he couldn't possibly have made a mistake with all his time in. "Drive your own truck" is the response.
More and more companies, O/O's etc are going to that kind of camera setup to cover their butts and yours.... but if you feel causing an accident is ratting you out because it got caught on camera when you did it....too bad. The world is going that way....like it or not. Nothing like footage of you doing everything you could to avoid an accident, and showing the other driver doing nothing but causing that accident that won't sit better with you, your safety dept., or your insurance agent when they put the responsibility and financial burden on the other party.
