    When I started

I keep going back to when I got started in this racket. LOL.

It all started when my step father was hotshotting cars around the region and country. It all started with a pickup and a goosneck that he could get two cars on. It elevated to two Dodge Duallys with wedge trailers. I was in the shop helping run things but once and awhile I would hook up one of the wedges and bring cars to auction for one of the local new car dealers.
At that time we had two setups and a driver for the other setup also. He decided he was moving on to greener pastures also. So both rigs were sitting not making money. We sold the older dually and one of the trailers and kept the newer dually and I did some local stuff with it. All my runs were close by so I did not worry about a class A yet. He wanted me to stretch out a bit with some over nighters etc but we weren't in the option of paying for rooms anymore, well it was fine for him but I perfered to not spend the extra on a room.

So we detailed out the dually and parked it in the lineup, we also had a used car lot, and sold it. he quickly found a used Freightshaker FL70 that had a bunk on it, 5.9 cummins and a 6 speed with air ride and air brakes. No tilt wheel, no cruise, no nothing. The AC just barely worked. LOL

Now it was time to upgrade my liscensing, went and got the book and parked it on the back of the toilet, you all know this is the best time for reading anyway so it was the prime place. About a week later, I walked into the local DMV, plopped down my money and took the written with all the needed endorsments. Passed it all. Set an appointment to get my med card and got that all done. I was off and running. LOL

4 years later the shop had hit on some hard times, sales were down, my brother was turning away shop work because he was to lazy to even do an oil change, So we shut the doors before it got out of hand. I could not help manage the shop from 4+ states away.

Went to work for an excavating company here in town, running dumps and hauling equipment around along with being a hole man on the job sites. I got some experience heavy OD hauling from hauling the excavator around for a couple years. This got old after a couple years and my mind kept thinking about the road again and all the places I had been while hauling cars.

I started job hunting and a couple weeks later a guy called me about doing some driving. I had not contacted him but he heard through the grapevine that I was looking for a job. I went and met with him and next thing you know I am on my way to get a drug screening and the next day I am packing some stuff into an older Volvo and heading out for a 2 week run. I am now on my 3rd truck and 2nd trailer with this company. I tallied up all my miles with the current company and I found that I hit just under a million miles in about 6 years time. I know it doesn't seem alot to some but it seems alot for me.

Total I am over a million miles between my jobs. ALL of them accident free. The worst that happened was I bumped 1 small deer with the last truck and it did not even bend the bumper.

I started in entertainment and was bringing a load back from a festival, cant remember what happened to the driver who was suppose to be driving, I had always shunted in our yard and a few supervised mty trips still onlyl had class 5, tho I did have my airbrakes, got flagged into the scale went in expecting to get screwed, he looked at my liscense went out and inspected the truck told me if I could back it AROUND THE SCALE YARD AND BACK ON THE SCALE NO TICKET??? So I did it. He laughed and told me to have my liscense updated next time thru,so on Monday I made the necessary apps and got it done. Now 17 years later. I doubt you would get away with that. In fact my test went about the same. Asked me to do a pretrip, half way thru said ok let's go, I drove out on the road he made me do a very tight turn into an intersection I thought we were going out on the highway half way there he told me to go back. I thought I failed??? Nope. I asked what that was about after he signed off and he said he knows in a couple minutes if your gonna pass or fail?? Anyway here I am? No accidents, tickets, oos incidents!
