Actually, you're not supposed to let the guy merge. It's common courtesy to move over or slow down if desired. The person entering the highway has to legally yield to oncoming traffic. So you will not be at fault if you do not and can not move over. You're not breaking the law if you "block" someone from entering the highway, you are just being a Richard.

That is a common misconception, yes you ARE at fault if they hit you and will ticketed for "failure to yeild to merging traffic".... trust me, I know

After paying my dues in a 65 MPH coffin for nearly 5 years at two next-closest-thing-to-bottom-feeder outfits, having a truck that can do 90 MPH on demand is second nature. I have never even got it going that fast but its nice to know its there.

Our company trucks are set @ 90 MPH and lease/rental trucks set @75

In the 65 MPH states, I never touch 70 unless I get next to that guy who is set @ 68.2 or a hill catches me off guard.

Freightliner Cascadias and Columbias are well known for being a nightmare in the wind, especially empty, mine is very stable @ 75 even with a light 25,000lb load.

I was ecstatic at my 2nd company when I got to do 68, then they turned them down to 65 in 2008. I left shortly after and found an outfit that does 75.

I can relate to what you're saying.I have drove slow trks for 5 yrs then I go with a company with 78 mph trks. It's like yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!But after a while I got sick of passing everybody and stayed behind a slow trk.But they are nice when you wanna pass somebody and can't do it with slow trk.The trk I have now,a school bus passes me like im sitting still.

Yesterday i get to work and decide screw my truck there is a rental on the lot im taking it. I take the rental and for a few hours im doing 60ish because its raining and i forget im driving a rental. then the sky cleared up and i go to make a pass and i don't run into the speed limiter wall and this big ####### rockets up to 72. I was in total amazement at having the ability to quickly pass another truck, and even better shut out that ####### that wants to rocket down ramp and the shoulder instead of merging in then passing. However i quickly got sick of doing 72 (5 miles maybe) and set the cruise to 65, i got sick of changing lanes and then the extra turbulence i guess had the trailer acting like a kite in the wind. It was a fun expierience i envy you fast truckers because the slow lane bites. But fast trucks surely arent for everyone.

ok..learn me something..in school(even drivers ed.)they teach you ,you are on the on ramp, you must adjust your speed, that merge sign is for you not the flow of traffic.courtesy yes,if its possible.too many times you cant move over to let the other guy in and i'll get out of it but im not hittin the brakes for them if they're not tryin to excellerate.we are talkin 4wheelers,i wouldnt run a truck to the end of the ramp.well, wouldnt do either on purpose.the trucks have more leway though.

No SHC you are wrong. Legally you DO NOT have to move over or slow down. What if you can't get over or slow down ? Those that are entering the freeway have to merge with you,not the other way around.

My truck gets 6.5 at 65 and 6.9 at 73 at 76 it gets 6.0.... You probably wont believe me but I have driven it for 5 years.... 470 60 series detroit.. 10 spd od and 3.90 rears... I wouldn't believe it if I didn't drive it.
