My goodness I never knew how much fun it is to drive a truck that does 70. You all have been holding out I see. I typically drive a Cascadia locked at 59, 62 if its having a good day. Yesterday i get to work and decide screw my truck there is a rental on the lot im taking it. I take the rental and for a few hours im doing 60ish because its raining and i forget im driving a rental. then the sky cleared up and i go to make a pass and i don't run into the speed limiter wall and this big ####### rockets up to 72. I was in total amazement at having the ability to quickly pass another truck, and even better shut out that ####### that wants to rocket down ramp and the shoulder instead of merging in then passing. However i quickly got sick of doing 72 (5 miles maybe) and set the cruise to 65, i got sick of changing lanes and then the extra turbulence i guess had the trailer acting like a kite in the wind. It was a fun expierience i envy you fast truckers because the slow lane bites. But fast trucks surely arent for everyone.

I think it's nice to have a truck that's not limited. Mine will run 80. I rarely run that though. Maybe if I'm passing a couple trucks trying to get out of the way of four wheelers, like on 80 in NE, it will creep up there. But you're right. It can and does get stressful if there's a lot of traffic and you're running 70-75 and constantly passing. I usually set my cruise to 65-68....unless I'm trying to get home. lol

It is nice to have that extra power when you need it to get around a log jam of slow trucks.

My truck is turned all the way up to 85 but i barely pass 75... But i like to let the cat out the bag when a trucks starts swerving and coming in my lane so not being governed is a good thing..

I agree that faster is more stressful. In heavy traffic, I get tired of passing other vehicles at 65, so I couldnt imagine running 70-75 constantly having to pass. I know most don't have that problem because they sit in the left lane like it's their own personal lane(talking about truckers here, not 4wheelers). That said, I drive 65-66 and bring it up to 70 to pass. Having that extra MPH keeps my blood pressure low!

My cab over could do 115 mph, was years ago and had the chance to clock it on a airplane runway.

My W900 would do just above 108 mph clocked on the same runway, I never ran like that on the highway but had power and speed to pass.

well...with all that said, ive pushed every truck ive had{all 3}to 80 or better.it scares the crap outta me.not so much when empty .but i can ride my scoot 100mph or better all day without battin an eye.dont know why.think its an internal instinct about whats left of me after impact.:biggrin_25525:the cost of fuel dictates my speedo @ 62-68mph.but i got it if i need it.

You are suppose to be a professional driver.. you should slow down(or move over) and let the guy merge instead of pushing him on the shoulder.. I know in Texas you will be at fault if an accident occurs(so will the other guy).. Just move over.. I know my truck will do 77...at 1600 rpms... never topped it out No need to.. but I believe there is a reason you need a 60 mph truck.... But if you deliberately speed up to block someone from merging you are BREAKING THE LAW. It is the same thing as speeding up when someone is passing on a 2 lane road and is a very unprofessional thing to do.

I enjoy having the ability to put the go peddle down and go. After spending 5 years in a 63 MPH truck it is nice. I usually run right around 64 to 65 MPH most of the time, just so I don't kill my MPG too bad. It is nice to get in with a bunch of Large Cars and be able to run along with them...
