Op what exactly did he say you were logging wrong? I would have asked for specifics, sounds to me like he was trying to spook ya and get you to talk...

Oh, and the last one who asked me to open the door had a special trick up his sleeve. He said open your door so traffic doesn't hit me. My guess is when you open that door you have given him the legal right to search your truck. But! Don't quote me on that I'm guessing.

When I first started driving I had a scalemaster go through my log book with a vengeance. She also had a bear in the air at the time and she was hot to trot! She returned my log book and said it looked good, then wrote me up for no battery cover on the truck. Funny thing is, I had bunk time logged and was driving a day cab!

I've had one DOT officer in 10 years actually look at my logbook and really look at it. That was in Montana. The other times I have had it looked at they simply wanted to know that I had filled it out and current. Last year one night I took my break in Dunnigan Ca at the Pilot, woke up and took off without logging it. Wouldn't you know...got pulled in for an inspection several hours north still in California. That ticket was $670 dollars! Yea I'm the first one in line to pay up when I break the rules but that was pure BS and legal highway robbery. Sure, a few hundred bucks but $670? LUCKILY my employer paid that ONE ticket for me...that time. In case your ever wondering why some companies do not go to California this is why.

i keep my doors locked as well and enjoy the look on their faces as they attempt to snatch one open;it happens often as the dot stands outside the scalehouse watching drivers creep by. i generally keep easing on as my window is rolled down.if they do not tell me to stop,i keep going.go figure-
