I have a full time job that I work 5 days a week and a part time driving job that I work one day a week on most weeks but not all . My question relates to my full time job log book we are local within 150 mile radius ,but we do logs . Now the log book i do for this company is a logbook with the company name on it and I was wondering do I have to log what I do with my part time job on their log book ? Why is asked is because on my part time job which also does logs we only log what we do on that job but they have a separate form for part time drivers to fill out hours worked on other job.

Just recently my full time job gave us a form to sign that was talking about the hours of service and the hours allow in a week . Now I think it was just them up dating considering the new rules ,but I am not sure now do I need to show on their logs my part time hours . Full time job is on 70 hour rule and I never come close to going over but I was just wondering anyone know the rule?

almost positive that driving is driving therefore you must log it all, from both companies.as long as you don't eclipse the 70,worry not-

    (j) Drivers used by more than one motor carrier. (1) When the services of a driver are used by more than one motor carrier during any 24-hour period in effect at the driver's home terminal, the driver shall submit a copy of the record of duty status to each motor carrier. The record shall include: (i) All duty time for the entire 24-hour period;(ii) The name of each motor carrier served by the driver during that period; and(iii) The beginning and finishing time, including a.m. or p.m., worked for each carrier.(2) Motor carriers, when using a driver for the first time or intermittently, shall obtain from the driver a signed statement giving the total time on duty during the immediately preceding 7 days and the time at which the driver was last relieved from duty prior to beginning work for the motor carriers.

It's worse than that, any and all time being worked for someone else (i.e. both your logs for each employer should be reflecting all On Duty and/or Driving time for the other employer) regardless of what job it was needs to be documented. Check out definition 8 and 9 below.

If you haven't been doing this already, you're already in violation.

Just so you know, here is the actual cite for the situation. I wasn't certain about the actual procedure, but I knew that what you wrote wasn't the proper one. Since it was gnawing on my mind I started looking and..there it was. Here's the info and link to the section pertaining to your issue. Notice that what your part-time employer was doing, MAY have been done correctly, depending I guess on if you are regular vs intermittent, BUT that said, your full-time job still needs that logged for those days and if any driving time was done, because that obviously would apply to their ability to use you appropriately. Also, if the part-time job is for someone who only runs during the week, is a 7day/60 hour, you may have a violation working for them if your hours are over their designation.

    Thanks all for replies

Well as far as my hours I fall within both of their designation weekly hours . Now I guess what I have to know or find out from primary job is do I log on their logs (which have their company name ) what I do my part time job or do I just record my hours or turn in log from part time job. My part time job you just filled out form they have with your hours 7 days prior on any other jobs, but you only log what you do for them on their logs . Oh and my part time job just went to electronic logs so they no longer do paper logs , but I figure you can always print them if needed.
