Help 2 Should I Pay My Co-Driver Still Working @ CRST

May 2011 I had an incident that put me an my co-driver in a hotel for five days. I was terminated later on for the incident, but went to the DIR for out of pocket expenses. I was awarded an amount that I will not disclose wile my x co-driver is still working at CRST and may be moving to a lease truck on his own. The thing is my x co-driver is the type of guy that keeps quite and does not make a lot of noise. By law he should have been paid for some of the hotel stays out of his own pocket that he paid for. I asked him not to pay anything because it was my F-UP, not his. This is a good man and CRST is not going to jump in and pay him anything. nor would any other trucking company if you do not stand up for your self. So the fact that the man is quiet and doing well at CRST, should I take it upon my own when I get back on my feet to pay this driver whats owed to him. I feel that I should, its hard to get a good co-driver, and he was a real good one. I just hate to see someone getting step on for something I did. Any feed back would be welcome. Thanks

Possibly talk to him and see if he even knows that CRST owes him a little cash. Or talk to who you talked to on his behalf(besure to ask him first). Or if you want to stay quiet and pay him your self you could. Your not obligated but it sounds like you and have a little in common. I hate making other people uncomfortable and will bend over backwards to help people. Anyways do what you feel is right

If you were leasing the truck from CRST or owned the truck and he was working for you then it is not CRST's responsibility to pay your driver. If your co-driver worked for CRST then it is their responsibility to pay him. If he worked for you then it is up to you to decide what is fair and act accordingly. As someone else mentioned you may want to sit down with him and check his thoughts on the matter. From your post he may not be expecting anything.

You might pay him simply by saying, DON'T DO A LEASE PURCHASE. It should reward him many times over. JMHO

It times like this that define your character. It seems like it is bothering you so talk with him. The outcome will come from the conversation. You'll feel better about yourself if he's satisfied or if you make him satisfied.

Since you asked him about it before and he said not to worry about it, he may be thinking the same thing still. You know how they have had the programs where someone pays it forward, this could be one of those thoughts. He helped you out so now you may have to help someone else that may be in need.
