Listing Non Driving Experience On An Application - Do You?
I'm looking at applying to a couple of companies, and everyone mentions they want up to 10 years of employment history. I know that you're required to give up to 10 years of driving history, but what happens if you don't have 10 years?
I've been at this 5 years, and if you were to ask me who I was working for 7-10 years ago, in a non driving capacity, I probably couldn't remember.
So would I need to list that call center I spent 6 months at, or that temporary cashier position I held before I was driving? Most non driving jobs only want the last 5 years employment, so I'm guessing that I wouldn't need to provide any non driving experience, since it's not relevent.

As I recall, they want 10 years of employment history regardless of years spent driving commercially.
Unless, IIRC, your new, and don't have any commercial driving history. Though, I am probably not correct, I just give the 10 years anyway.

They want every employer.
I had to list high school with USX to fill in the gap before I had any employment

Carriers are required by law to have an application with the last 10 years employment on file. Whether you were driving, working in a factory, flipping hamburgers or in school, you need to account for all time spent during the last 10 years.

I had 13 jobs to list on my last application. Its a pita but they want it. And they do try and contact every one of them. I applied at another place and the guy ask me about a place I worked, and ask me if I knew where the boss lived, so he could send him a letter asking about my previous employment. I had worjed for the same guy twice, and both places had closed after I left them.
Idk what its for, but its a requirement.

for some reason they need verifable. don't ask me why cuz no one likes to spend the time of day on previous employees.
can you imagine giving reference for every single employee you had for the last 10 years. and how many times they might be looking for work during the next
10 years.
course, you could be in my shoes. the only verifiable i got is my current company. even a fortune 500 company i once worked for no longer exists.

The 10 year history thing, is not just driving, there looking at How many jobs you held?, There looking at if your flighty, meaning?, How long do you last at a company?, If fired or quit?, most companies like to see fewer jobs in that time span
