Turned the GPS off.

I never looked at it like that but I guess it's true. Us older drivers had no choice but paper maps and phone, then the GPS come around. All drivers should learn by the old ways.

New rule, no GPS until you have one year in!

 

I use mine mostly for a speedometer

 

last night i couldnt get to the ts in jackson miss with or without the gps #### frontage roads and left hand exits and just my old brain
maybe a guy smokin crack that designed the road pattern
in my best maine accent "you can't get there from here"

 

haven't owned one yet. don't intend to to.
I'll use Google maps at home,(car) and my "dumb" phone ,pen and paper on road,(truck). the shipper will know what roads are open or not. GPS is not real time info.

see too many people can't find there way around the city they've lived in for yrs.because they don't have the "big picture" of it in their head.

I use paper maps to double check the GPS, which is always off by 3 miles.

 

No GPS works in Montreal someone should have told you that when they sent you there. Best piece of equipment to use there is the CB radio, channel 19 will get you the local drivers, give them a call tell them where you are and where you need to be they will set you up with fast proper directions. The wife is part french she can figure out the signs and can ask local I cant so rely on the truckers best friend the CB, and all the other drivers who will help you out.

 

Never had a problem with my TND gps in Montreal or any other part of Canada. Was pretty accurate when I was there last month. I don't depend on the gps as my primary routing tool and instead use the atlas, and google satellite view prior to starting and write down all my turns prior to starting. gps is handy to see upcoming roads, and for speed and time to destination.
