What Region to Start In, Northeast or Midwest?
What would you suggest as far as where to start as a new commercial driver. i have all my driving experience in NY and up and down the east coast. With that being said i am starting out in my career during the winter and i have the option to stay in OK or NY. The snow does not intimidate me and i feel i am an experienced driver enough to know when to or not to push the drive during winter weather. At the same time i know i dont know jack when it comes to driving a rig, especially in the winter, due to my lack of experience. so to my question, where would you suggest starting out?

NY, at least you know your way around. if Oklahoma you would probably be driving the Rockies in winter.

No ####, well i was born in dallas but my mother was from petersburgh NY and lived all around the troy area growing up. while she was in the army she asked to be sent to Ft Drum NY to be closer to home for her. so since i was 15 i lived in NY starting out in St Lawrence County in norwood. You blink you go through it ya know. then moved outside or ft drum into lewis county. then onto ft drum lol. Before all of this though i spent a year with my grandparents in wynantskill while my mother did her year tour in korea, and now i returned there. so to sum it all up i know I-81 like the back of my hand and the back roads all the way up to Messena and east. I have only been through catskill a handfull of times but what i can remember it was a beautiful area. then again a lot of the the county's outside of the capitol are great.

If you were at the home of the 10th Mt. Division you sure know snow thats for sure. I once delivered a dollar general load in Massena that was going to take several hours to unload so went next door in the small mall and watched a movie while they were unloading. That was kinda cool. I grew up in Vermont and used to run hwy 11 quite often as we had a dedicated run to Buffalo out of NH. Much snow. Me, I would say run OK. You know New England and your trying to get experience driving so why not the mid-west?

You aint lying there about the mall in Messena. I tell ya thats not a place i miss haha. Yeah that lake effect snow can be killer. I was driving from Utica up to Lowville, a few years back, in a nor-eastern and i remember snow drifts as big as semi's. Buffalo gets hit pretty hard every year too. Well it was a 50/50 decision. all my stuff is in ny and i only have enough money to either move my stuff, car and motorcycle down to OK or get my license transferred, twic card, hazmat, and passport. which i kinda need those to persuade companies seing as my age is some what of an issue.
